About[edit]

SCI-Group AS is a Norwegian deep technology company dedicated to transforming the global cryopreservation industry. Founded in 2005, the company has developed a patented cryopreservation technology.

Technology[edit]

CryoEmbla[edit]

CryoEmbla is SCI-Group's patented core technology enabling:

  • Cryopreservation of living cells entirely without cytotoxic chemical cryoprotectants
  • Significantly reduced use of cryoprotectants compared to conventional methods
  • Safe, rapid, and efficient freezing of living cells
  • Simplified handling and workflow
  • Cryopreservation without DMSO or with strongly reduced DMSO

Conventional cryopreservation relies heavily on DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide), which is cytotoxic and requires careful handling. CryoEmbla addresses this fundamental limitation.

Applications[edit]

  • Cell therapy manufacturing
  • Biobanking
  • Advanced life sciences research
  • Broader clinical and industrial use of living cells

Strategy[edit]

SCI-Group works closely with leading research institutions, industry partners, and investors to accelerate adoption of next-generation cryopreservation.

Vision[edit]

To set a new global standard for safe, efficient, and reproducible cryopreservation — unlocking value for medicine, science, and society.
